Income Support 

Income support is a benefit paid to people aged 16 and above if they’re not able to work full-time or take a training place.

You may be able to claim income support if you’re not working or you’re working less than 16 hours a week and you’re:

  • registered sick or disabled
  • a lone parent
  • expecting a baby within 11 weeks
  • a carer for someone who is sick or elderly
  • a student and a lone parent
  • a student and disabled
