Housing Benefit

Housing Benefit  (or Local Housing Allowance as it’s sometimes called) is available for people on a low-income to help them pay for their housing costs. You may be able to get help with your rent If:

  • you don’t live at home and
  • you’re unemployed or on a low wage

How much you receive depends on your income and other factors – do not presume that the benefit will cover all of your rent. The Benefits Office at your local council can tell you if you qualify and how to make a claim. Contact:
