Finding out what’s on offer
There are lots of ways you can check what courses are on offer. You can:
School and College open days / evenings
These take place at various times throughout the year. They’re an excellent opportunity for you to talk to staff and students, get an idea of what it might be like to study there and find out whether the course is suitable for you. They’re generally advertised in local newspapers or on the radio. Go along and check them out! (Parents are always welcome too.)
Filling in your application forms(s)
You usually have to fill in an application form which you can get direct from the sixth form or college you wish to apply to - or from their prospectus or website. Your school or Connexions Personal Adviser may also have some blank copies. It’s a good idea to photocopy the blank form so you can practice filling it in.
The earlier you can make your application, the better - some courses are very popular and fill up fast! Check the deadline date and make sure you return your form in good time. If you need any help filling in your application form, your Connexions Personal Adviser will be pleased to help you.
