Connexions Staffordshire

In Year 11

Section 139a

If your son/daughter has a Statement of Special Educational Needs and they are planning to leave school at the end of Year 11 to go to college or onto a work based learning programme,  a Connexions Personal Adviser (PA) will complete an assessment with them. This is called a Section 139A-C assessment (previously known as a Section 140). The aim of the assessment is to gather information on your son or daughter’s future support needs.

The Connexions PA will use this information to produce a report which will detail your son or daughter’s educational or training needs and the provision required to meet these needs.
After getting your son or daughter’s consent (or yours where appropriate) the report will be sent to the college or work-based learning provider your son or daughter is going to attend. It will be used to help them put in place the support your son or daughter needs.
