Connexions Staffordshire

Safe recruitment

Safe recruitment of our staff begins with our job advertisements and application packs.  Connexions makes it clear that a CRB enhanced disclosure applies to all staff in direct delivery roles.

Assessment centres are run for Adult Adviser, Personal Adviser and Assistant Personal Adviser posts and candidates are assessed while participating in a variety of activities.

Connexions Staffordshire has adopted the NSPCC process of Value Based Interviewing which assess individual’s beliefs against those of the organisation.  We are working towards training all of our managers in this process.

Young people are trained and involved in our recruitment and selection of Personal Advisers and Assistant Personal Advisers. They participate at assessment days as part of young people’s panels assessing group activity, interviews and receiving presentation from candidates.

All delivery staff and staff with access to client records have Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) checks at the appropriate level on joining the company and these are repeated at 3 year intervals to ensure currency.

All delivery staff have to abide by the Connexions Staffordshire Code of Conduct regarding safe working with young people and vulnerable adults.
